Gkrellm is a menswear shop selling online at https://gkrellm.com, stocking lightweight jackets and vests. This page covers how the range is put together and what gets looked at before anything is listed.
Almost every garment is measured against a body. Outerwear is not. It is measured against a body plus whatever that body already has on, which changes from one morning to the next. A jacket that fits beautifully over a t-shirt can be unwearable over a sweatshirt, and nothing on a standard size chart will warn you, because the chart was built by measuring the jacket flat on a table with nothing underneath it.
That mismatch is where most outerwear disappointment comes from. The chest number looks right, the sleeve number looks right, and then the shoulder seams pull the moment there is a hoodie in the way. Or the zip closes over a shirt and refuses over a fleece. Or the sleeve ends exactly where a cuff begins and rides up every time an arm bends.
So the fit question we care about is not what a jacket measures on its own. It is how much room is left in the armhole, across the upper back, and through the sleeve once a mid layer is already there. Everything in the shop is chosen with a layer assumed underneath rather than hoped for.
Jackets cover the arms and close at the front, cut for a temperature where a coat would be too much and a sweater not enough. Vests cover the torso and leave the arms open, which sounds like half a jacket and behaves like something else entirely: they keep the core warm while the arms stay free to move and to shed heat.
The two work together as often as they work alone. A vest layers over a shirt in the morning and under a jacket when the weather turns, which is why we pay attention to how slim the vests sit through the body: one that bunches under a sleeve has lost half its usefulness. Within each group the difference that matters is closure and shell weight rather than color, so both full zip and snap front versions are stocked.
Outerwear rarely wears out the way people expect. The shell fabric usually outlives the garment by years. What ends a jacket is hardware and edges: a zipper slider that spreads and stops locking the teeth, a cuff that loses its stretch and stops sealing, a pocket bag that tears at the corner where keys sit, a lining that separates from the seam allowance under the arm.
Those are the parts we look at first. We check that a zipper runs without needing a second hand to steady the hem, that the slider sits on a tape wide enough to take the pull, that the cuff returns to shape after being stretched over a hand rather than staying flared, and that pocket bags are stitched into the side seam rather than hanging loose in the lining.
None of that shows up in a photograph, which is exactly why it is worth stating here. A jacket photographs the same whether the zipper is going to last two seasons or ten.
The numbers below are the same ones you will find on the policy pages, written out here so nothing has to be hunted for before you order.
